Join Community Workshop NOLA to learn some woodworking skills and make a wooden serving utensil, such as a spoon or spatula. Students will learn how to roughly shape and carve a wooden serving utensil utilizing a bandsaw, scroll saw, belt sander and various hand tools, such as carving knives and hook knives. All materials are included in the cost of the class. This class is open to all! No woodworking experience required.
Come enjoy our shop and tools, make friends, and learn a new skill.
This workshop will take place at our new shop located at 1201 Mazant St.
About the Instructor:
Emery Tillman is a mixed media sculptor with a Bachelor in Sculpture from the College of Charleston and a Master in Fine Art from Louisiana State University. They have a background in metal and wood fabrication, and a love for all things textile. Their works have been exhibited throughout the United States, as well as in Thailand and the Czech Republic. They have participated in numerous artist residencies, including Elsewhere, Penland School of Crafts, and as a Fellow at Pilchuck School of Glass. They love sharing new skills and getting people into the world of craft.
